UI/UX, Branding
Gold Coast Piazza
One of the key projects I undertook this year involved revamping a series of websites for Sino Group's Gold Coast properties. The first to launch was their shopping mall, Gold Coast Piazza, with the Main Site and Residence set to follow in the coming months. The design philosophy focused on conveying a sense of hospitality while preserving a look of corporate professionalism.
Overview
We aimed to rebrand the overall visual design of the website, giving it a fresh look and feel. The redesign focuses on accomplishing key user goals for Gold Coast Piazza, including helping users find places to eat and shop, engage with promotional offers and events, and navigate transportation options.
Our user experience research included a field study to better understand the environment and identify user goals and pain points. This observational and explorative approach allowed us to gather important information about customer needs and the context of on-site usage. Additionally, we conducted interviews with shoppers at the mall, asking questions such as how they plan their visits, what they hope to do, where they seek assistance, and the importance of images in managing their expectations. We also explored what influences their decisions on where to eat and shop, as well as their expectations for website functionality.
Our findings highlighted a strong reliance on mobile devices for problem-solving, the importance of images for referencing offerings, and the need for detailed maps and pins to help navigate the destination. Furthermore, users expressed a desire for comprehensive information—such as hours, locations, and contact details for shops and restaurants—accessible on the website. To meet these needs effectively, we focused on creating a single page that considers load speed and allows for pinch-zoom interactions on mobile devices.
